From the Office of Student Life:
Open to all students, the Emerging Leader Program is a structured
leadership program designed to engage students of all experiences in
an exploration of leadership and success skills.
In the fall, Level One requires participants to attend three
meetings and a half day workshop to focus on specific personal
leadership styles.Students will be expected to attend eight
workshops from a list of about 20 workshops provided by various
college departments during the course of the semester. Students will
be asked to work with small teams to plan an activity, support
campus programs and to develop their personal success plan. We
expect that students will be engaged in about 25 hours of activity,
most which can be done at their own pace as schedules permit.
Students will have mentors to guide them through the program.
The program is free to students, there is no penalty for failing to
complete but for those who do complete they get a $50 gift card to
Oakton's bookstore, and will have gained skills to help them as
students, employees and leaders as well as having made connections
at the College. Those who complete Level Two will receive a $300
scholarship.
Applications are due August 24 but we can accept applicants until
Sept 7th if space is available.
For more information and to apply, see Emerging Leader Program online.
