Financing your education


Many students are looking for ways to finance their education. Here are some suggestions from various sources:

Smart Money article on loans not typically used to finance education
Super College article on how to find scholarships, though I wouldn't recommend buying a book listing scholarships. I'd rely on free online scholarship services.
College Board Scholarship Search - free online scholarship searches 
Don't forget to check out professional organizations in your major. The national organization and occasionally local chapters offer scholarships. If you see that the deadline has passed, make a note on your calendar to look for next year's scholarship announcement.

Many companies will offer scholarships to students. Edison International, for example, provides Edison Scholars Program for students pursuing higher education in the areas of math, physics, chemistry, engineering, materials science, computer science or information systems. Information about eligibility and how to apply to the Edison Scholars Program will be announced in fall 2012.
