Brenneman on DNA-Based Nanoconstructs

On October 19, 2011, Kimber Brenneman spoke at the 2011-2012 STEM Speaker Series on "DNA-based Nanoconstructs for detection of heavy metal ions and related Raman/SERS signature studies." Through a collaboration among scientists and engineers, DNA-based nanoconstructs will help detect toxic heavy metals in human tissue cells and the environment.

Ms. Brenneman is a fourth year graduate student in the NanoEngineering Group at the University of Illinois at Chicago's Bioengineering Department and is a member of the university's Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) program.

The audience consisted mainly of Oakton Community College students considering careers in STEM. If you are interested in presenting your research to this audience or if you'd like to recommend a speaker, please contact Gloria Liu at glorial@oakton.edu.
