An estimated 70 parents and their daughters attended the STEM Girls Rock meeting. Four students from Maine East High School spoke about their Green Girls project. Aida Awad and Jodi Wachowski from Maine East showed a short video of women in various STEM fields. They also encouraged girls to say out loud a STEM career they are interested in exploring. Six role models spoke about their experience in an intimate "speed dating" session format. At the conclusion of the meeting, many parents expressed interest in participating in a Parents Support Group to inspire girls to pursue STEM careers.
